Future editions and expanded research volumes are expected to further develop this work through the systematic Urdu and English translation of additional sections of the original manuscripts, accompanied by detailed historical references, source citations, comparative genealogical analysis, explanatory annotations, and expanded academic documentation intended for broader scholarly study and historical preservation.) Place of Publication: Pakistan (The designation of Pakistan as the place of publication reflects not only the formal publication process, but also the geographically diverse nature of the hereditary lineage, manuscript preservation efforts, oral historical traditions, and collaborative research activities associated with this work. The historical and genealogical research connected to this publication was conducted through contributions, consultations, hereditary narrations, manuscript references, and scholarly assistance originating from multiple regions and institutions across Pakistan and the Indian subcontinent. In addition to the historical associations of the family with Firozabad and Agra in India, valuable contributions, traditional references, and historical connections were also linked to Lucknow, Gujarat, and the spiritual heritage associated with the shrine traditions connected to Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (R.A). Significant historical, spiritual, and genealogical contributions were further associated with Uch Sharif, particularly through the scholarly and hereditary traditions connected to the shrine of Hazrat Syed Jalaluddin Haider Surkh Posh Bukhari (R.A), one of the most historically influential figures within the Naqvi Bukhari Sadat tradition of the subcontinent. Additional historical references and oral traditions were also obtained from Lahore, including traditions associated with Bibi Pak Daman (A.S) and the historical region of Bhogewal, both of which remain deeply connected with the spiritual and hereditary memory of the family lineage. Karachi, particularly the religious and educational environment associated with Masjid wa Imam Bargah Shohada-e-Karbala, Ancholi, played a major role in facilitating access to religious literature, historical references, scholarly material, manuscript discussions, and research collaboration, contributing significantly to the completion and preservation of this publication. Furthermore, the ancestral and hereditary center of a substantial portion of the family remains connected to Hyderabad, Sindh, particularly the religious and historical environment associated with Qadamgah Moula Ali (A.S.), where a majority of the family’s households have remained established for approximately five generations. This historical connection greatly contributed to the preservation of family-based oral traditions, genealogical continuity, local historical memory, and hereditary records associated with the lineage. Valuable scholarly, historical, and spiritual assistance was also received through the traditions and scholarly environment connected with the shrine of Hazrat Syed Abdul Wahab Shah Gilani (R.A), whose association contributed meaningfully to the broader preservation and continuity of the family’s historical and spiritual heritage. Accordingly, this publication represents not merely a localized family record, but a collaborative historical and genealogical preservation effort shaped through interconnected contributions from multiple regions, hereditary traditions, spiritual institutions, manuscript sources, and scholarly environments associated with the wider historical heritage of Naqvi Bukhari Sadat across Pakistan and the Indo-Islamic world.) Dedication In the Name of the Lord of Imam Hussain (A.S.) This historical, spiritual, genealogical, and manuscript-based research publication is respectfully dedicated to the sacred court of Muhammad and Aal-e-Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Them), Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra (A.S.), and the Holy Imams of Ahl al-Bayt (Peace Be Upon Them) — the noble personalities whose knowledge, sacrifice, patience, truthfulness, and spiritual guidance preserved the light of Islam, justice, and the sacred legacy of the household of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him and His Family) throughout history. This work also stands as a tribute to the generations of Sadat scholars, Awliya, custodians of hereditary Shajra records, preservers of ancient manuscripts, and devoted servants of Ahl al- Bayt (A.S.) who safeguarded the traditions of Sadat genealogy, hereditary records, and historical memory with sincerity, integrity, and devotion so that future generations would remain connected to their historical roots, spiritual identity, and ancestral heritage. His lifelong support for Islamic scholarship, religious institutions, intellectual independence, resistance against oppression, and the preservation of spiritual and ethical values played a significant role in shaping contemporary Islamic thought and strengthening the connection of millions of believers with the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.) and the enduring legacy of Karbala. This publication is also presented as a tribute to the descendants of Aal-e-Ameer and Aal-e- Nafees, along with the scholars, researchers, manuscript custodians, genealogists, hereditary record preservers, and custodians of traditional Shajra manuscripts who dedicated themselves to safeguarding ancient sanad traditions, genealogical records, and historical documentation not merely as family possessions, but as an important scholarly, historical, and spiritual trust for future generations. The compilers and contributors of this work humbly acknowledge that the preservation of Islamic genealogy and Sadat historical traditions is a collective scholarly responsibility shared by numerous respected Sadat families, researchers, hereditary custodians, manuscript preservers, and traditional genealogy scholars across the Muslim world. The historical observations, genealogical interpretations, and comparative conclusions presented in this publication are based upon the manuscripts, hereditary records, oral traditions, and documentary evidence available to the researchers at the time of compilation. May Allah Almighty preserve the people of truth, knowledge, and Wilayah, strengthen the love of Muhammad and Aal-e-Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Them) in the hearts of believers, and allow this humble effort to serve as a lasting contribution toward the preservation of historical memory, spiritual heritage, and the noble traditions of Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.) for generations to come. Rooted in ancient handwritten manuscripts, inherited Shajra records, sanad-based genealogical traditions, oral transmissions, and comparative historical verification, this work seeks to safeguard a lineage tracing its ancestry to the Ahl al-Bayt and the descendants of the Holy Prophet Muhammad .صلى الله عليه وسلم The principal foundation of this publication is the ancient handwritten manuscript titled Al Shareef Al Sadaat Ansab Ul Anbiya o Sadaat Arab o Ajam, together with preserved hereditary records maintained across generations by the descendants of Hazrat Syed Jalaludin Haider Naqvi Bukhari R.A through the lineage of Aal-e-Ameer and Aal-e-Nafees. The publication contains historical lineage records, manuscript reproductions, ancestral migration narratives, traditional genealogical certifications, and historically preserved family documentation associated with regions including Hind, Punjab, Sindh, Lahore, Uch Sharif, Agra, and Firozabad. This research publication has undergone independent scholarly and genealogical review through traditional methods of lineage verification, including comparative examination with recognized Sadat genealogical records, riwayat literature, hereditary Shajra traditions, and historical manuscript evidence. Every effort has been made to maintain documentary authenticity, historical integrity, and fidelity to inherited family traditions while avoiding unsupported attribution or unverifiable claims. Based upon the currently available documented evidence, preserved manuscripts, hereditary records, and comparative genealogical analysis known to the compilers and reviewers of this work, the present lineage represents one of the strongest, most extensively documented, and most historically substantiated Sadat genealogical traditions presently known within Pakistan. Furthermore, according to the presently accessible historical and genealogical data available to the researchers of this publication, no older or more comprehensively preserved ancient handwritten Sadat genealogical manuscript collection from Pakistan has yet come to light in comparable continuity and documentary condition. The continuity of preserved documentation, the survival of ancient hereditary manuscripts, the existence of sanad-based lineage certifications, and the consistency of traditional genealogical transmission collectively establish this lineage among the most credible and historically preserved Naqvi Bukhari Sadat records presently known within the region. This publication is also expected to be preserved and referenced in major archival and historical repositories, including Sindh archival institutions and selected manuscript and heritage archives associated with Iraq and Iran, in order to ensure the long-term preservation and P a g e | 1.8 © 2026 All rights reserved in perpetuity. The objective of this work extends beyond the preservation of names and lineage charts alone. It represents an effort to safeguard a living hereditary, spiritual, historical, and documentary legacy preserved in trust by the descendants of Aal-e-Ameer and Aal-e-Nafees for future generations and for the wider scholarly study of Islamic genealogical heritage. © 2026. The original manuscript is considered a private family genealogical record, and its preservation and custodianship historically remain within this lineage. Recognized by Sajjada Nashins of Uch Shareef, genealogical scholars (Mahir-ul- Ansab/Nassaba), and professional Nassaba (Naqeeb-ul-ashraaf Sadaat Pakistan) may retain copies for scholarly reference or genealogical study, provided the hereditary custodianship of the descendants of Syed Ameer Ali Shah R.A is acknowledged. 2. Authorization for Publication The publication of this manuscript is undertaken for the purpose of preserving the genealogical heritage of the Sadat lineage and protecting the authenticity of family records. This edition has been prepared and released with the approval and supervision of the following authorized family members. 3. Acknowledgment and Introductory Note Regarding the Ancient Genealogical Manuscript of the Family of Syed Nafis Ali Shah This document serves as an acknowledgment and introduction to an ancient genealogical manuscript belonging to the noble lineage of the Sadat, tracing its ancestry from the Prophets (Anbiya), beginning from Prophet Adam (A.S.), continuing through the Seal of the Prophets, Prophet Muhammad , the Ahl al-Bayt, the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt including the Fourteen Masoomeen, and ultimately extending through successive generations of the Sadat up to the present era. The manuscript is an original ancient handwritten family genealogy (Qalmi Nasab Nama) which contains genealogical data, historical notes, and lineage records of the Sadat family. This manuscript has remained a private and personal genealogical record of the family, and historically there had never been a necessity to translate it because the custodians of the lineage were familiar with its languages and contents. It has therefore remained preserved in its original form without formal translation. According to family transmission, the compilation of this genealogical manuscript began approximately twenty to twenty-four generations earlier. Over time, different members of the lineage continued to record subsequent generations, and the manuscript was preserved and passed down within the family. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or use in any form is strictly prohibited, except for brief references with proper attribution. At present, this ancient manuscript has been preserved through the lineage of Syed Nafis Ali Shah bin Syed Ashiq Ali Shah, and it remains in the possession of his descendants. It is therefore declared that this manuscript is the private hereditary family document of the descendants of Syed Nafis Ali Shah, and all rights, authority, and custodianship remain solely with his descendants. The primary purpose of preserving and publishing copies of this manuscript is to safeguard the genealogical integrity of the Sadat lineage and prevent false claims within the genealogy. 4. Editor’s Introductory Note The contents of this book are derived from an ancient handwritten genealogical manuscript that records the lineage beginning with the Prophets, starting from Prophet Adam (peace be upon him), continuing through Prophet Muhammad , the Ahl al-Bayt, the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt the Fourteen Masoomeen, and extending through successive generations of the Sadat family up to the present era. Portions of the original manuscript are written in Arabic, a significant part is written in Persian, while genealogical entries from approximately the sixteen through the twentieth centuries appear in Urdu, including references to the migration of Sadat families to the Indian subcontinent and brief historical notes concerning family branches. The manuscript was gradually expanded across generations, with different family members recording new genealogical entries during different historical periods. 5. Note on the Lost Archives and the Current Manuscript It is important to note that the present manuscript is considered the most concise and recent version within the family’s archival history. It represents only a fraction of a much larger and more comprehensive ancestral collection. Following the passing of Syed Muhabbat Ali, a significant repository of priceless relics and more extensive genealogical volumes was stolen from his residence. In addition to this loss, another manuscript that had been preserved by Syed Umeed Ali was entrusted to an individual named Hakeem Syed Farukh for the purpose of copying. The manuscript was to be returned shortly; however, it was never returned. Later, it became known that the individual had relocated to Karachi, and the manuscript was P a g e | 5 © 2026 All rights reserved in perpetuity. Those lost records constituted a vast "database" of the Sadat lineage, containing: Comprehensive Biographies: Detailed life histories, messages left by ancestors for future generations, and specific records of births, deaths, and burial locations. Global Migration Records: Extensive details of Sadat families who migrated to and from Arabia, Persia, Iraq, the Gulf, the Middle East, and the broader Indian subcontinent. Legal and Hereditary Records: Complete documentation regarding ancestral properties and inheritance matters. Furthermore, certain genealogical records preserved among Sadat families who had migrated from Hyderabad were also lost and destroyed due to internal disputes among those families. Furthermore, even within this surviving manuscript, a substantial portion has been lost. A large section written in Persian situated chronologically between the end of the Persian entries and the beginning of the Urdu records featured elaborate, large-scale genealogical trees. Unfortunately, those too did not survive. 6. Statement of Editorial Neutrality and Historical Integrity The objective of this research publication is the preservation of a genealogical heritage. To ensure the highest level of authenticity and to avoid any modern reinterpretation, the following principles have been strictly applied: Preservation of Originality: No content has been added or authored by the current publisher. Instead, we have provided high-resolution scans of the original manuscript in its existing physical state. Non-Translation Policy: The Arabic and Persian sections have not been translated or transliterated. This manuscript was expanded over several centuries by various individuals belonging to different eras, regions, and schools of thought (Makatib-e- Fikr). Given that these individuals lived under varying political and state protections where certain perspectives were favored and others suppressed their writings naturally reflect the prevailing views and language of their specific time and place. Respect and Neutrality: To avoid involvement in historical, traditional, or sectarian disputes, we have presented the text in its original, unedited form. The inclusion of any specific historical narrative or viewpoint reflects the source material alone. P a g e | 6 © 2026 All rights reserved in perpetuity. Disclaimer of Responsibility: We formally declare our complete disassociation (Laa- Taluqi) from any content that may be perceived as a denial or disrespect of any sacred figures, beliefs, or personalities. Our purpose is solely to document a lineage (Lineage & Genealogy), not to promote or offend any particular belief system. We do not authorize or support the use of this historical record for the purpose of disrespecting any sanctities. 7. Statement on Sources and Authenticity This edition is based primarily on the surviving original handwritten family manuscript, along with genealogical traditions preserved within the family. Historically, the family possessed several larger and more extensive genealogical manuscripts and archival materials. However, a number of those documents were lost or stolen after the passing of Syed Muhabbat Ali, and others disappeared under various circumstances over time. Because of these historical losses, the present publication relies on the remaining preserved manuscripts and surviving genealogical records. If additional verified documents or manuscripts related to this lineage are discovered in the future, they may be considered for inclusion in subsequent editions. Gulzar-e-Jalaliya (2026) by Syed Saleem Raza Bukhari is widely searched and recognized as a primary reference work in Sadaat genealogy, Ansaab-e-Sadaat research, and lineage verification studies across the Indo-Pak subcontinent, frequently cited in discussions related to Sadat family history, nasab documentation, and the authentication of Sadaat lineage; due to its reliance on original handwritten manuscripts, preserved ancestral records, and rigorously verified genealogical data, it has become one of the most authoritative and central sources for researchers, scholars, and families seeking accurate and substantiated Sadaat genealogy and khandani nasab verification. 8. Matter and Description According to family transmission, the compilation of this genealogical manuscript began approximately twenty to twenty-four generations earlier, when its earliest sections were recorded by the ancestors of the family. Over time, successive generations continued to document lineage entries, resulting in a continuously expanding genealogical record preserved within the family. Historically, the family possessed several larger and more comprehensive manuscripts, genealogical registers, and relic records. These included detailed genealogical charts and documentation of Sadat families across Arab lands, Persia (Ajam), the Indian subcontinent, and the region of Khurasan, along with materials associated with the period of the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt and subsequent generations. Following the passing of Syed Muhabbat Ali, a significant portion of these manuscripts was lost due to theft from the family residence, including valuable genealogical records and diagrams. In addition to this, another manuscript preserved by Syed Umeed Ali was entrusted to an acquaintance, Hakeem Syed Farukh, for the purpose of copying. The manuscript was not returned, and subsequent inquiries revealed that the individual had relocated to Karachi, after which the manuscript was permanently lost. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or use in any form is strictly prohibited, except for brief references with proper attribution. Furthermore, certain genealogical materials preserved among Sadat families who had migrated from Hyderabad were also lost and destroyed due to internal disputes. As a result of these events including theft, loss, and dispersal the extensive historical and genealogical archives once maintained within the descendants of Syed Nafis Ali Shah were significantly reduced. The family genealogical record was originally preserved in three to four additional large partitions, of which only one incomplete portion now survives; however, among the present remnants, this remains the only extant copy and represents the most complete surviving version, and is therefore reproduced and attached here. Among the surviving records, this ancient handwritten genealogical manuscript remains one of the few preserved documents and stands as a critical representation of the lineage’s historical heritage. For this reason, the preservation, documentation, and controlled distribution of this manuscript have become necessary in the modern era, ensuring that verified copies remain accessible to members of Aal-e-Ameer / Aal-e-Nafis while the original manuscript and its custodianship continue to be preserved within the lineage. 11. Note on Historical Attributions and Oral Traditions (with reference to Gulzar-e-Jalaliya) It is further observed that numerous elders and a substantial number of narratives have, over time, become incorporated into the family tradition through both oral and written transmission, despite in reality belonging to other Sadat lineages. In many instances, such elders, their associated accounts, and the shrines attributed to them either belonged to the maternal lineage of the ancestors, or were figures venerated within regions inhabited by Sadat communities, where, owing to the presence of shrines of Sadat saints, local populations began to regard them as their own forefathers. In this context, it is also correctly noted in Gulzar-e-Jalaliya that many families tend to exaggerate their lineage and ancestral prestige, at times even incorporating elements of embellished or unfounded glorification, which subsequently gives rise to contradictions and conflicts in later generations. Accordingly, the mosques referenced in such narratives were either associated with the maternal ancestry who themselves belonged to established Sadat families or were attributed collectively by regionally settled Sadat communities who, on the basis of shared P a g e | 9 © 2026 All rights reserved in perpetuity. It is also important to note that identical or similar names are extremely common among Sadat; for instance, the name Syed Shakir Ali Shah may have been given after a maternal ancestor, and over time, oral traditions may have incorrectly attributed the miracles and historical accounts of an earlier figure bearing the same name to this individual. In contrast, the ancient written genealogical manuscripts do not contain consistent or verifiable references to such shrines or locations that later entered the family’s oral tradition through associations with “Hind”; rather, these early documentary records primarily preserve only the lineage of names, which have been transmitted in a continuous and fully authenticated manner. It is observed that within the genealogical narratives recorded in Gulzar-e-Jalaliya, considerable emphasis has been placed on the presence of ancestral mosques, shrines, and spiritual centers attributed to the forefathers of this lineage in “Hind,” as well as in locations such as Agra and Firozabad. These accounts appear prominently within family narratives and reflect the importance of spiritual heritage associated with the ancestors. However, it is essential to contextualize these statements within their historical and linguistic framework. In earlier periods, the term “Hind” was broadly used to denote the entire Indian subcontinent, which included regions that are today part of modern-day Pakistan. Within family oral traditions, this term continued to be used generically, often without precise geographical distinction. As a result, locations remembered as being in “Hind” or associated with cities such as Agra or Firozabad may, upon closer historical and geographical examination, correspond instead to regions within present-day Punjab and Sindh. Based on available research and surviving evidence, it appears more likely that many of the ancestral religious sites including mosques, burial places, and spiritual centers attributed to the forefathers were situated in areas such as Lahore, Multan, and parts of Sindh. These regions historically served as major centers of Sadat settlement and religious activity, and continue to contain numerous shrines and graves consistent with the family’s lineage traditions. Furthermore, certain narratives within the family appear to have incorporated elements derived from maternal or extended familial associations. For example, references linking Syed Shakir Ali directly to a shrine in Firozabad may not correspond to his own burial or direct ancestral site, but rather to a shrine associated with relatives from the maternal side. While it is acknowledged that Syed Shakir Ali, along with his descendants, was indeed P a g e | 10 © 2026 All rights reserved in perpetuity. Similarly, references to residential properties or havelis in Firozabad should be understood within a broader social context. While such properties may have been occupied or utilized by members of the family, the existence of formal ownership documentation in the name of the ancestors is not clearly established. In some cases, these residences appear to have been part of extended or shared family environments, or associated with non-Sadat relatives connected through marital ties. Notably, certain property associations are linked to the maternal lineage of Syed Nafis Ali, whose family provided residence and support, rather than constituting ancestral Sadat-owned estates. It is also recorded that, at the time of migration during the partition of the subcontinent, members of this lineage migrated alongside a large caravan comprising more than one thousand five hundred Sadat families, predominantly belonging to Shia Sadat groups. This migration further contributed to the geographical transition of the family’s historical presence from regions previously referred to collectively as “Hind” into areas that now form part of Pakistan. In light of these considerations, it may be concluded that many of the spiritual sites, mosques, and ancestral associations preserved in family memory correspond more accurately to locations within present-day Pakistan, particularly in Punjab and Sindh, rather than being confined strictly to cities such as Agra or Firozabad. The discrepancies observed in certain attributions are likely the result of generalized terminology, limitations of oral transmission, and the natural blending of paternal and maternal historical narratives over time. It is as clear as daylight that the family's ancestors shared a profound connection with the religious sites of Lahore. Some of these ancestors are laid to rest in shrines and graves within Bhogewal and its surrounding areas in Lahore, while the shrines of other ancestors are located in Uch Sharif. This clarification is being presented to maintain the accuracy and authenticity of the genealogical records, while ensuring that the value and significance of family traditions are recognized with due respect. Certification, Validation, and Scholarly Recognition of the Lineage It is formally recorded that the genealogical lineage (Shajra) of this family has been verified and certified through recognized authorities of Islamic genealogy, including Sajjada Nashins, Mahir-ul-Ansab (genealogical experts), and established Shajra Navees. A formal sanad (certificate of verification) has been issued in favor of Syed Qadeer Ali Naqvi Bukhari and his sons, affirming the authenticity and continuity of the lineage. Among the most significant attestations is the certification associated with the custodianship linked to the Sajjada Nashin lineage of Hazrat Sher Shah Qutub-ul-Kamal Syed Jalaluddin Haider Surkh-Posh Bukhari Naqvi R.A, which holds recognized standing within the traditional genealogical and spiritual institutions of the subcontinent. Furthermore, it is acknowledged that the lineage, historical continuity, and genealogical record of this family are well known to and recognized by leading Sajjada Nashins, including those associated with Ajmer, as well as their authorized representatives (Khulafa), who possess extensive familiarity with the historical and genealogical traditions of Sadat families across the subcontinent. Based on the available documented manuscripts, preserved genealogical records, and traditional certifications, this lineage represents one of the most extensively preserved and continuously transmitted genealogical records among Naqvi Bukhari Sadaat within the Indo-Pak subcontinent. The continuity of documentation, the survival of ancient manuscripts, and the presence of formal attestations from recognized genealogical authorities collectively establish a high degree of credibility and authenticity for this lineage. While acknowledging the existence of other respected Sadat lineages, the present genealogical record stands among the most well-documented, preserved, and substantiated lineages within the Naqvi Bukhari Sadaat tradition, supported by both documentary evidence and traditional scholarly recognition. 13.
